Record field expected for Blue Ridge Classic track meetPublished by
Reynolds expects to host over 1,300 athletes from five states in Saturday’s Blue Ridge Classic track meet. The Blue Ridge Classic is in its ninth year and annually the biggest meet in Western North Carolina. “It’s a great opportunity for people to see not only some of the top athletes in Western North Carolina and the Southeast, but the entire country,” Rockets boys coach Buck Buchanan said. “That’s what we want. Because that’s how you get better, competing against the best.” If the Blue Ridge Classic’s field is as large as expected, it will set a record for number of athletes. Along with North Carolina, the meet has entrants from Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Field events and the 3,200-meter run kicks things off at 9 a.m. Admission is $6
