Over his nine years of helping organize the Blue Ridge Classic, Reynolds' Bill Abromitis has seen all kinds of weather -- from snow to sunshine to the powerful wind gusts that blew over cement-filled buckets Saturday at Reynolds High.

But Abromitis had never seen quite as many track and field athletes as turned out for this year's meet. Exactly 1,395 boys and girls competed Saturday, making the meet the largest in North Carolina, according to Abromitis.
